DCFF862F-4C14-4093-8187-7CDEE82D08A4.jpeg I am getting the aquanet sponge bettafry (small) for my shrimp tank. I was wondering what's the best air pump for it? I'm new to these sponge filters, and I admit, I don't know anything nearly them. Eventually I desire to replace my HOB with this system.

I am currently using a whisper pump, information technology's only a x gallon size and is decent for two sponge filters.
For my crabitat's bubble pools, this pump is really powerful and does a wonderful job pumping air.

WTFish?

I have the same sponge filter, I use it with a whisper 30 gallon pump in my 5g...I'm starting to have bug with the catamenia though, my sponges are as well dense I believe. I too added a HOB considering the filtration is not great imo.

Well mine is gray but yeah...I should say at that place are many of those double sponges on amazon and some have amazing reviews, mine did not. Lol. I looked at others where the sponge looks coarser so probably less issues. Yours may be fine, people swear by them.

I learned on Mikes Shrimp tanks on youtube, if I can see thru the sponge, I will take to cover them with stockings for shrimp fry. I need the dense sponge if I want babies so that'south why I got the bett fry ane. And I don't know much most air pumps (merely ever used them for air stones) so this is a whole new matter for me. Mike has this european pump that works great only can't find it here, so trying to observe the equivalent. richie.p knows all about this, lol.

I'm using a Whisper 40 on my 30-gallon, which is split between the sponge and two elevator tubes of my undergravel filter. I used air menstruum adjusters to give priority to the sponge filter, and then it gets the virtually air, and so the rest is as divided between the lift tubes. The more air you give information technology, the faster water flow you'll get and the more than filtration yous'll have. It's a 'slow' filter, things waft into it gently and get stuck. It has done a lot to polish upward the water in my goldfish tank and selection upward floaty $.25. It'south also, of class, a cracking home to beneficial leaner! (BB).

I'm using a Whisper twoscore on my thirty-gallon, which is split between the sponge and two lift tubes of my undergravel filter. I used air flow adjusters to give priority to the sponge filter, and so it gets the most air, so the residue is equally divided between the elevator tubes. The more than air y'all give it, the faster water flow yous'll get and the more than filtration you'll have. It'south a 'dull' filter, things waft into it gently and get stuck. Information technology has washed a lot to smoothen up the h2o in my goldfish tank and pick up floaty bits. It'south also, of class, a great domicile to beneficial leaner! (BB).
Precisely why I want to add i to my tank. The HOB is OK but I don't like the jimmy rigged sponge I have on the intake and it clogs and then quickly. Plus! We take issues with power outages and sometimes HOB's don't restart whereas the air pumps Lways practice. Merely feels more trustworthy in the end.

From what I found in the past the shrimp get into the class sponge and then finish upward dying. The one TheeLadyG is on nigh sounds good and seems to work and then the bigger the pump the amend y'all'll be. You lot can always restrict the menstruation if information technology's to much

I didn't desire to use an HOB on my tank, partly considering I call up they're ugly/messy/high maintenance, just also I wanted low-flow filtration for my fancy goldfish. I think I also take the aquaneat, information technology's a dainty dense sponge that I highly dubiousness would be an result for even the tiniest of fry. Also, the fish and snails love to eat the collected $.25 off the sponge.

Those are basically Tetra Whisper air pumps. null special. I take a 40 gallon one that works ok simply non all that powerful but I like to run a few sponge filters on a pump. It'll exist fine for a couple of sponge filters though.

Whisper forty

I use a Fluval .5 to run 5 sponge filters on three tanks but it's LOUD. I took information technology apart to dampen it but it's notwithstanding pretty loud. I also take an ActiveAqua adjustable on 2 tanks running three sponge filters simply it'southward on low and it'southward pretty quiet.

ActiveAqua 2 outlet

You lot should have check valves and adaptable valves if you lot run more than one sponge filter on a line.

Sponge filters are biological filters so don't look it to filter your tank of debris. It should be fine for a shrimp tank. I've been thinking about taking the AC50 off my shrimp tank and putting some other sponge filter in there. I have a HikarI BactoSurge 40 gallon sponge filter in at that place too.
